Six Stages from Brief to Installed Sign
Every custom sign project at Lundon Calling follows this process. Each stage has a defined deliverable and client touchpoint — so you always know where your project stands. For an overview of sign types we produce, see our custom signage Ottawa hub.
- 01
Project Intake
We start with your project brief — sign type, location, size, timeline, and brand files. We review the site address and zoning to flag any permit requirements or bylaw constraints before work begins. This prevents surprises later in the project.
- 02
Site Survey
For exterior signs, we visit the site to take physical measurements, assess mounting conditions, photograph the building face, and confirm electrical access for illuminated signs. Site survey data informs the technical drawing and ensures the proof reflects actual field conditions.
- 03
Design Proofs
You receive two proof types: a scaled technical drawing with exact dimensions, mounting details, and material specifications; and a visual rendering showing the sign on the building in context. Proofs are issued for all sign types — not just exterior — including interior, window, and vehicle graphics.
- 04
Client Approval & Permits
You review and approve the design proof. Revisions are made until the proof accurately reflects your intent. For signs requiring a permit, we submit the approved drawings to the relevant municipality. Production does not begin until approval is received and any required permit is in hand.
- 05
Production
Signs are fabricated at our Eastern Ontario facility. Channel letters and dimensional components are cut, formed, and finished in-house. LED modules, power supplies, and electrical components are sourced from commercial-grade suppliers. Printed graphics are produced to spec and laminated before shipment.
- 06
Installation & Documentation
Signs are installed by our crew — exterior signs mounted and sealed, electrical connections made by a licensed electrician, and interior graphics applied without surface damage. Upon completion, we provide installation photographs and a sign specification record for your property file.
